CSU alleges lapse in AYUSH project

MOKOKCHUNG, OCTOBER 9 (MExN): The Chungtia Students’ Union (CSU) has expressed dissatisfaction over the technical test report concerning the construction of the 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Sabanung under Mokokchung district and issued a five-day ultimatum to the Department of Health and Family Welfare to take immediate action.

The CSU served a five-day ultimatum to the Department of Health and Family Welfare for “immediate and necessary action.” The Union warned that failing to do so, it “shall be compelled to initiate our own course of action, for which we will not be deemed liable for any consequences thereof.”

In a letter addressed to the Principal Director of the department, the Union stated that the technical test report dated September 29, issued through the Executive Engineer, Medical Engineering Division, Kohima, was “incomplete and totally unsatisfactory.”

The Union highlighted that the report’s test result on a structural beam was marked as “Poor and Doubtful,” while the concrete core compressive strength “lacks clear and substantiated justification.” It said these findings raise serious concerns about the quality of work and “reflect unprofessional conduct on the part of Northeast Engineers.”

According to the Union, a meeting was held on September 11 between the Chungtia Students’ Union, Chungtia Village Council, KC Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd., and representatives of the concerned department, during which it was agreed that a joint follow-up meeting would be convened once the test results were available.

However, the Union stated that “despite the lapse of more than nine days since the report was issued, no initiative has been taken by your department to organize this meeting.” It further alleged that “multiple attempts have been made by the Union to communicate with your office have gone unanswered, and no official correspondence has been received from your end to date,” which it said has undermined the Union on the matter.
