CTYO and CTSU appeal to shift DC office without further delay

Chümoukedima, April 12 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Town Youth Organization (CTYO) and Chümoukedima Town Students Union (CTSU) today censured the CSOs for opposing the shifting of Dimapur DC office.

The two bodies in a joint statement said, “They (CSOs) will do well to remember that in 1997, under the governance of SC Jamir, Chümoukedima was established as the district headquarter of the newly incepted Dimapur district, and it was chosen without any political influence or public demand.”

Chümoukedima being one of the fastest growing urban landscapes today, it makes good sense to have the DC office here, they said while adding that “Chümoukedima has vast potential for further development whereas, Dimapur town is congested and has stagnated its scope for further infrastructural development and growth, combined with its ever growing traffic woes.” Chümoukedima is not a “rural village” but it comes under the administration of Chümoukedima Town Council and even served as the first headquarter of the then Naga Hills district during the British rule. The town is inhabited by not one but all sections of communities where everyone is equal and share equal responsibility, it stated.

Further, on issue of bifurcation of rural and urban administration, “It is very unbecoming of the Dimapur town based CSOs trying to represent the whole of Dimapur district. They should very well know that they do not represent the whole district and should not oppose developmental progresses for their selfish goals.” On the concern of students facing commuting adversities and other hardships, CTYO and CTSU mentioned that there are many other schools and colleges located further away from Dimapur town.

Therefore, for welfare and best interest of everyone the move to shift DC office will be beneficial for the population of all the inhabitants of the district, and those from beyond Dimapur town won’t have to endure the hardships. “We appeal strongly to the concerned authorities to make necessary arrangements to shift the DC office without any further delay,” it added.
