The elusive Nagaland State Lotteries, that once found mention in a Suniel Shetty movie, has finally landed in the state of origin. Sold under the ‘Dear Lottery’ brand, it was launched in Nagaland on June 12 by the Future Gaming and Hotel Services Private Limited (FGHSPL), the distributor for Nagaland State Lotteries, at its Dimapur outlet located at Golaghat Road. It subsequently began sale from Monday.

Subbayan Nagaraj, CEO of FGHSPL, informed that Dear Lottery features an array of weekly, bi-monthly lotteries, besides special ‘Festival Bumpers.’ The weekly lottery draws take place three times a day at 1:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 8:00 pm, offering participants a chance to win a variety of prizes with the first prize amounting to Rs. 1 cr and consolation prizes. According to Nagaraj, the drawing of the lottery is streamed live on YouTube reportedly for “enhancing transparency and excitement for participants.” The tickets are prized at Rs 6 each.

A media handout further claimed that the Nagaland State Lottery has a nationwide appeal, turning many people crorepatis over the years. “Since April 16, 2019, to June 4, 2023, a total of 2,281 individuals have become crorepati winners through the Dear Lotteries scheme. Among them, there have been 15 winners of Rs. 5 Crores, 2 winners of Rs. 3 Crores, 19 winners of Rs. 2.50 Crores, 4 winners of Rs. 2.10 Crores, 7 winners of Rs. 2 Crores, 4 winners of Rs. 1.50 Crores, 17 winners of Rs. 1.25 Crores, and an impressive 2,213 winners of Rs. 1 Crore.”  It added that the winners hailed from various states, including West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, Sikkim, Meghalaya and others.

In addition to producing crorepatis, it claimed that the lottery has emerged as a significant revenue contributor to the state and Central Governments. With the lottery category falling under the 28 percent GST component, it said that Nagaland can expect an increase in GST income.

It added that exclusive stockists have been appointed to market the Dear Lottery tickets in various regions of Nagaland. Interested individuals can contact M/s. JY Enterprise for Dimapur, M/s. C Murry Enterprise for Wokha, and M/s NK Agency for Kohima.
