Debate Naga issue: MC Konyak

DIMAPUR, MAY 26 (MExN): “It is high time the Naga political issue be debated” said M.C. Konyak, Parliamentary Secretary Government of Nagaland gracing the debate competition of the All Nagaland Private School Association, Dimapur unit on May 26 at the Holy Cross, Dimapur. Konyak regretted that Nagas has landed in trouble due to lack healthy debating in the past but, he added, ‘everything can be solved by debating.’ While questioning the quality and standard of education in the state, Konyak said the private school teachers though paid less work hard for the students. He also appreciated the role played by the private institutions for improving the quality and standard of education in the state and further urged the students to respect their teachers. M.C. Konyak also donated Rs.50, 000 towards the fund of All Nagaland Private School Association. 

Okin Meitei of Living Stone Foundation Higher Secondary School, who spoke against the motion was awarded the first prize in the debate which was conducted under the topic, “Present day students are better prepared to face the world”. Abikel Chishi of Bethesda School (against the motion) was awarded the second prize, the third went to Rachel Agarwal of Holy Cross School (for the motion) while the overall champion was awarded to ‘for the motion’. The first prize was Rs.3000 with certificate, second-Rs.1500 with certificate and third Rs.1000 with certificate. Altogether, 14 schools from Dimapur participate in the debate competition.
