KOHIMA, FEB 21 (DIPR): Nagaland Finance Commissioner, H.K. Khulu has reminded all Government departments to submit, in prescribed formats the status report of finances of their respective Departments at the earliest.
Reviewing the finances of the State in the monthly meeting of the Administrative Heads and Heads of Departments in Kohima on 20th February 2006, Khulu said furnishing all information and statements is a mandatory exercise under the Nagaland Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act, 2005.
Information should include gearing up efforts to enhance tax revenue collection, tax revenue raised but not released by all Departments administering tax collection, monthly receipts and expenditure statement details of number of employees and related salaries in respect of PSU/Government aided institutions, details of subsidiaries, outstanding miscellaneous liabilities etc.
The Finance Commissioner also informed the meeting, of the achievements made in the collection of the State revenue during the current financial year up to December 2005.
Khulu disclosed that the State has so far achieved Rs 101 crores against the target of Rs 1887 crores. However, the achievement figures shown by the Treasuries and Accounts up to December 2005 stands at Rs 135 Crores which requires to be clarified.
Payment of pending water bills and power tariffs by all departments at the earliest and encroachment of Government lands also came up for discussions at the meeting.
Taking a serious concern over encroachment of Government land by individuals and private parties all over the State, the Chief Secretary Talitemjen said that the problem of encroachment cannot be solved over night but it was high time for the Government to take up steps with determination.
