Deputy CM assures more police check posts in Wokha

Wokha, May 22 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton today visited Wozhuro range in Wokha district on May 22 and assured the setting up of an additional police check post in the district. 


The Deputy CM was inspecting the medical Primary Health Center (PHC) at Wozhuro. The Wozhuro Range Public Organisation (WRPO) submitted a representation to the Deputy CM urging highlighting the pressing need for such a check post in order to curb the peddling of alcohol and other intoxicants. 


The Deputy CM assured the people that immediate necessary arrangement would be to be made at the earliest for the welfare of the area people and the district in general by setting up a check post within the month of May. He further urged cooperation from the six villagers under WRPO to extend support towards the development.


Patton was accompanied by DGP Nagaland, T John Longkumer. The DGP stated that the location was suitable for the putting up of a check post.


The Deputy CM meanwhile speaking at the Government High School asked the people to continue to put in efforts towards containing the COVID-19 virus. He further encouraged the people to work harder and be self-reliant by making use of their land.


He meanwhile informed that the Department of Horticulture is ready to setup cold storages in all the districts of Nagaland to assist the farmers in storing perishable goods.


Patton also visited Chukitong Range under Wokha district, where he said that one outpost at the locality will be placed when a strategic location is identified.


After visiting Wozhuro and Chukitong range under Wokha district, a short meeting was held at the DC’s conference hall, chaired by the Deputy CommissionerOrenthungLotha.


The DC informed that till May 21, the district received 57 returnees, of which 43 people will be released from institutional quarantine as they came before March 18 from neighboring states and completed preliminary quarantine.


The meeting was also attended by the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) who submitted a representation addressed to Health & Family Welfare Minister, S Pangnyu Phom for providing Truenat tests at the district hospital.
