College of Nursing, District Hospital Dimapur, organised a seminar on “The Healing Power of Presence: The Forgotten Art of Nursing” on July 16.
Dimapur, July 16 (MExN): The College of Nursing, District Hospital Dimapur, organised a one-day regional seminar on “The Healing Power of Presence: The Forgotten Art of Nursing” on July 16, with nurses from 12 districts of Nagaland participating in the event aimed at reinforcing compassionate care in clinical practice.
The seminar witnessed participation from Community Health Officers (CHOs), Staff Nurses and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) representing various Sub-Centres, Health & Wellness Centres, Community Health Centres, Primary Health Centres, District Hospitals, and private hospitals across Peren, Longleng, Medziphema, Noklak, Wokha, Zunheboto, Chümoukedima, Niuland, Kohima, Tuensang, Mokokchung, and Dimapur.
Delivering the keynote address, guest speaker Nchumbeni Y Jungio, Clinical Psychologist at CIHSR, spoke on the conceptual and scientific foundation of therapeutic presence, emphasising the need to treat patients as subjects and not objects, while Prof Khumjanbeni Murry of College of Nursing, CIHSR, discussed clinical applications of therapeutic presence in nursing practice and underscored the importance of compassion in patient care.
The seminar commenced with a welcome address by Bendangsangla R, Principal of School of Nursing, District Hospital Dimapur, and patron of the event, and concluded with a valedictory programme led by Limasungla Aier, Assistant Professor at College of Nursing, DHD.
Lalthanzami from the Nagaland Nursing Council served as the observer for the seminar, which was chaired by Molungnenla Imchen, Assistant Professor at CON, DHD.
