Dimapur businesses to reopen with strict safety protocols

New Market, Hazi Park (Hong Kong) Market to open from Friday

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): With increased relaxation of lockdown measures in the state, Dimapur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajesh Soundararajan has said that “immediate focus would be on stricter enforcement of safety protocols.”

Addressing the Dimapur District Task Force (DTF) meeting at the DC’s Conference Hall on September 2, the DC also informed that normal business activities will be allowed in compliance with the latest standard operating protocols (SOPs) issued by the Government of Nagaland, a DIPR report stated. 

In this regard, the Task Force decided to reopen shops at New Market and Hazi Park (Hong Kong) Market starting September 4 with regulations worked out by the Dimapur Municipal Council.

Consequently, the DC issued an order detailing the regulations in the two markets as well as other market places in the district. (See Box)

The DC meanwhile emphasized on the need to sensitise the masses on the importance of taking individual precautions. As such, he directed the outpost officers to form committees within their own jurisdictions to enforce safety guidelines. 

He informed that the practice of issuing permits has been discontinued and movement restrictions have been relaxed in the district, and impressed upon the colony/ward/GBs/ Village Councils to take the lead and enforce the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Dimapur Chief Medical Officer Dr Mereninla Senlem informed that COVID-19 cases in Dimapur are coming down with good recovery rate. However, she expressed the need to be more cautious especially during the month of September, the report stated.

She also urged the colony/ ward/GBs and village councils to continue to play their roles, in order to turn Dimapur into a ‘green zone,’ it added.

The meeting was attended by Dimapur Commissioner of Police Rothihu Tetseo and all the members of DTF Dimapur.
