Dimapur, December 17 (MExN): A four-day integrated teachers training under National Initiatives for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) for Key Resource Persons (KRPs) and State Resource Persons (SRPs) of Nagaland got underway at Don Bosco Institute of Development and Learning, Dimapur on December 17.
A DIPR report stated that Director, SCERT, Nagaland, T. Sekhose delivering the welcome address stated that NISHTHA is a national flagship programme initiated by MHRD and NCERT. He said that the national curriculum framework 2005 has rightly pointed out that in service teachers training cannot be an event but has to be a process where skill, knowledge and other requirements that a teacher require have to be constant. Highlighting the recognition by MHRD, about the importance of an integrated approach, Director said that the Government of India has recognised the importance of all the stakeholders like teachers, functionaries, principals and people who are instrumental in ushering in quality education and brought under one platform so that there is a common understanding of the needful.
Speaking about the access to education in the state, Director said that the government has provided enough infrastructure and despite having all mechanism put in place the outcome in terms of quality education shown by national survey were not very positive. Reminding the gathering that they have mandated for an important assignment, who have been consciously selected to be the resource persons for the initiative and soon be assigned to function as resource persons at different levels throughout the state to trained the total population of seventeen thousand teachers in the state, Director, called the gathering for utmost commitment, sincerity and dedication.
Prof. Jyotsna Tiwari, Department of Education, Institute of Aesthetic, New Delhi, while highlighting the training module to the gathering also stated that the programme aims to train 42 lakh teachers all over the country so that they have the understanding of what are being initiated and required for the schools and the children.
The inaugural programme was chaired by additional Director SCERT.
