Dimapur, July 30 (MExN): A one-day refresher training on Malaria, JE and Dengue was held for medical officers of both private and public sectors at Chapel Hall, District Hospital Dimapur on July 29. The training was organized by National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Nagaland, stated a press release received here. 

Dr Niesakho Kere, Jt Director & SPO (NVBDCP) highlighted the NVBDCP programme and presented the current scenario of the Vector-Borne Diseases in the State. With the recent reports on JE cases, he emphasized the need for a joint effort of both the private and public sector health facilities to prevent and control the further rise and spread of the cases. 

He also informed that the State’s NVBDCP is implementing its activities effectively and is hopeful to achieve a Malaria-Free State very soon with the co-operation and participation of both the private and public health facilities and the communities.

Dr Ngopelo, MD, DH Phek presented the case definition, clinical features and management of JE, Dengue, and Malaria while Dr T Temsu, i/C Sentinel Surveillance Lab. Dimapur presented the pathophysiology and Diagnosis of JE, Dengue, and Malaria. 

Dr Kavito, DPO CD-1 Dimapur also emphasized the importance of timely and accurately reporting the cases, and co-ordination between the private and public sectors in controlling and preventing the spread of vector –borne diseases. He also re-oriented the trainees on the Reporting Formats.

The training concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Nitovi, Deputy Director. Besides Medical Officers from both private and public sectors, staffs under NVBDCP Nagaland and the district also attended the training.
