Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton today said that ‘the direct railway link to Kohima now on the cusp of becoming a reality.’
“One of the most exciting developments in Nagaland is the progress being made on railway connectivity. For years, Nagaland has longed for a direct railway link to Kohima, our state capital. This dream is now on the cusp of becoming a reality,” Patton said while speaking at the 75th birthday celebration of Narendra Modi in Kohima on September 17.
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to improving infrastructure in the Northeast, work is well underway to extend the railway network to Kohima, Patton said. “The work on the Kohima Zubza Railway station will not only enhance the accessibility of our state but will also open up new economic opportunities, ease travel and promote tourism,” he said.
He said that the railway project is a key step connecting Nagaland to the rest of the country, ensuring that the people the people are no longer isolated but can easily access to broader economic and social opportunities that India has to offer.
Transforming highways in Nagaland
In addition to railway connectivity, Patton said, there has been a significant push to improve the road infrastructure in Nagaland.
He said that Modi Government’ s focus on building and upgrading highways across the North East along with improvement of rural roads in an effort to ensure that “we are well connected both within our state and with the rest of country.”
Most importantly, it will help improve the lives of our people, he said.
