DIMAPUR, SEPTEMEBR 15 (MExN): A dispute, reportedly over sharing of water landed two people in the hospital with wounds inflicted by machetes. The incident occurred at a place under Medziphema subdivision on Thursday, September 15 at around 11:30 am.
The identities of the persons concerned as well as the name of the place of incident are withheld so as not to disturb communal harmony. According to sources from Medziphema, both the individuals, who are said to be elderly, survived the incident but suffered injuries to the head. The injuries though are said to be not life threatening.
On hearing the news, police and district administration officials rushed to the place before it escalated into a situation communal in nature. It was learned that the elders from the villages of both the individuals have called for calm and peace. The sources informed late in the evening that the situation is still tense but under control.
