Do you agree there is an urgency to address the increasing public confusion between professional journalism and unregulated media content? Give reasons.

Yes:
•    A differentiation between the two must be made known to the public, or the alternative is people taking every information and 'news' in the internet as facts at face value. Communication technology has advanced immensely with the internet introduced in the mainstream within the last 2-3 decades, and people need to advance along with it by being able to discern between what is reliable information and what is not, which can be achieved by educating the masses and spreading awareness.
•    Because one sided story or media contents without actual fact check can mislead the public regarding recent issues. It is necessary to filter such news outlets especially in the present age of the internet, as false information can spread like wildfire, with just a click.
•    Criteria should be met and ethics should be the driving force. Personal/political agenda kept aside journalists should realise the life of a state/nation and its citizens depends upon them.
•    Definitely…..The rise of individuals, particularly from certain parties claiming to be news anchors or reporters often under the label of “citizen journalists” is a growing concern. The amount of self-interested content and personal opinions being fed to large audiences poses a serious threat. Media literacy has become one of the most crucial factors today. It is essential for people to understand what news to trust, especially when many are unaware of the kind of information they are consuming. Moreover, while there are media houses that may be compromised, branding the entire media outlet as “corrupt” just because one or two channels act like “Godi media” is unfair. In a world flooded with opinions and narratives, there are still journalists who stand firmly for the truth. Not everything can or should be generalized.
•    Facts, fiction or rumours sometime cannot be differentiated.
•    Its a pity that the social media and youtube content creators are not maximising the potential of the digital platform. They can be doing so much better because the medium allows them. Unfortunately the media content on social media is below par and often has no relevance. It looks like the creators are more for getting likes and subscribers instead of using the platform to create more responsible content.
•    Majority of the unregulated media content we see today are for likes and to get more followers. This is very dangerous because people are making content to gain popularity.
•    Media should not be partisan and jump into own conclusions without hearing the otherside of the other party. News can be shared but should not show support to one side but present the proper story coverage. That's professionalism which needs to be properly regulated
•    Of course, it is a matter concerned. But, there is a big but... both professional or self trained or what you called unregulated will be useful only if quality and true news are presented without fear, prejudice etc... The viewership will be dependent on the quality and coverage of news, in short, who has more viewers i.e. trust. What I feel, the professionals have to pull up their socks and give more coverage and gain the trust of the people. If so, the unregulated channels may go away for lack of viewership.
•    Professionalism is needed.
•    Social has become a breeding ground for all and sundry to voice opinions and post pictures. Some are fabricated and cause disinformation to disseminate freely.
•    Some of the media content on social media concerning Nagaland is unethical. It is inflammatory, sensationalising and at times defamatory in nature.
•    The silence of the Nagaland government is loud enough to say that they will not do anything to differentiate between professional journalism that contributes to society and social media content creators who are only lining up their pockets. Have you noticed how the government departments have been using selected influencers to promote their policies? Obviously, the professional journalism is must more objective and also criticises the government policies and so may not have the favor of the government. But the influencers will do anything the government tells them to do as long as they are paid. The government will remain silent because they prefer the influencers over the professional journalism.
•    The transition of media in online platform as well as the phenomenon of going viral and meme culture has degraded standard of journalism in Nagaland.
•    There is an urgency for Nagaland government to address the unregulated media content. It is a reality that social media has lots of positive, but it is also a reality that it can be misused and abused to serve one's own agenda and interest. With the mushrooming of unregulated media content, clear steps must be taken to avoid creating a society driven by rumors.
•    There is, without a doubt, an urgent need to address the increasing public confusion between professional journalism and unregulated media content and deal with it stringently because these self-acclaimed self-labelling journalists create more confusion and chaos. More noise, less news. They lack journalism etiquettes and act as the police, social activist, correctional facility, judge, and reporter all in a single body. Maybe pick a profession and do it well? When such content remain unregulated, people will always attribute their credibility to the number of views and subscribers and in the worst case, take their word for it. More Press Clubs and certified journalists should speak up against them and fight this growing menace of misinformation, malinformation, and disinformation.
•    This should be addressed at the earliest possible way.
•    Unregulated media content is misleading the public. This is a major concern because it weakens the public ability to make informed decisions.
No:

Others:
•    An uninformed public like the Naga society will be confused by the rapid changes taking place due to technology. The public is not able to distinguish between a professional journalist and a social media content creator. To the public they will not see any difference between the two. This should be an opportunity for a professional journalist to do better by creating better news report and doing investigative stories.
•    Bottom line either one is reporting or selling.
•    If the so called professional journalists are scared to against the system, there will be obviously mushrooming of unregulated journalism. If We look deeper, the problem is not unregulated journalism. The problem lies with professional journalists not being able to sometimes stand against the system whenever necessary.
•    Whether it is professionalism or unregulated media, now a day’s everything is fabricated and corrupted. Truth is scares and news is sold.
