Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
• They are young energetic with fresh mind committed as of now.
• Yes, Young r sacrificial and energetic with little knowledge or no to corruption.
• 100 percent I believe!
• They will. But only if they were given a chance to voice out by the old timers.
• Yes, they will. I believe they'll bring positive energy.
• The young MLAs are in the best position to make a difference in the Nagaland government. In today’s world, where there is no room for complacency and laid back governance, the young MLAs should be able to show the way to their seniors. I guess only time will tell as to whether they are deserving enough to be called MLAs. They will have to prove to the people that they are capable of making their own decisions.
• let’s hope n pray they bring great changes for us..... They can do it.... They will surely do it.....
• I should say Yes given their education and exposure to the world. My only doubt is whether they have the knowledge and understanding to deal with the local situation. But I still feel they can make a difference if they really want to. Time will tell.
• Like how KYN stated it's too early to comment but at same time I would like to give the "benefit of doubt" to the present young members of Parliament. I hope they won't betray our confidence. Best of luck to all of them.
• Nagas need young dynamic leaders.
• Bcoz tey r young, dynamic, critical, ambitious, energetic etc. Ready 2 work in any dimensions..confidence is their guide..when ter is peace, ter is way.
• Yes, They intended candidacy to change Nagaland its people and youth. Surely they will.
• Yes, if they feel for future nagas should prosper.
• Yes, Because most of them are educated, and i believe they will definitely to something good for our society.
• Yes, Young people understand more of the youthful generation for their upliftment.
• Yes, definitely! The young MLAs can make the change and bring peaceful progress in the govt of Nagaland if they are well educated, if they have the knowledge of living and if they have pity towards the poor Nagas.
Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
• I don’t believe event eh young MLAs will change Nagaland because the son will walk in his father’s foot step only.
• Majority of the young MLAs have not proven themselves. They have won not because of who they are, but because of who their parents are. The only newcomer this time who have experience and who really deserves to be an MLA is Vikheho Swu, the others, I am sorry to say won because of money power and because of the influence of their parents.
• They may not know how to develop.
• Simply put, it only depends on the moral foundation and character of the MLA regardless of his age. It's a cliché but like begets likes.
• No, i dont think so cos tey r blanket by same old buras...
• No, they ultimately follow the footsteps of the old horses in corruption.
• No, there are no chances of making a difference by the young MLA in the Nagaland government. Why? Because almost all the young MLAs are the puppets of the senior bureaucrats and senior politicians.
• No, the young won't change as of now though they may want to bring about positive changes. This is mainly because of the reason that they'll be forced into muddy waters anyhow, with the present system of government, where the older ones as bosses are bound to have the upper hand in final decisions. Things can, however, be turned around only if everyone (MLAs, officials, govt servants, public, etc) opts to bring changes for the better where our elected leaders are the pilots for now.
• Never, Nagas has been divided now.
• No! Because Politicians itself reserved for the bad people. All sorts of wrong people are joining politics to satisfy their evil needs. Even if they wanted to become sincere, the system won't allow them to do. Politicians are the biggest gamers in the world. All those who are uneducated, educated fools, illiterate are joining politics to lure the public. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor then it will not save the few who are rich.
• I don't think so as our young MLAs are but mere puppets tied to the hands of the old horses.
• No, system and status quo will be hard to melt. go along with it or leave it
• No …. I don’t have much expectations on the newly elected young MLAs because as far as its concern, the present trend of corruption will continue to exist … the problem is that Nagas cannot resist money power as well as not many are concerned about the public and instead they opt for own selfish interest … the richer the more.
• Many might think that young MLAs will make a difference but I believe they'll forget everything what they spoke during election campaign when they sees money and will be as usual as before they were elected.
Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
• It’s too early to predict or judge how the young guns are gonna turn out. One thing is confirmed that they will decide things faster be it good or bad. So people lets see what this young guns are made of, whether they see our genuine concerns for a better Nagaland.
• Too early to comment.
• First let them recover their expenditure from election and lets talk of making a difference.
• It is early to tell whether the young MLAs would make a difference or not. However, i believe that, they being the one who were a mere layman before the elections, having seen with their naked eyes, the hardships and difficulties which the general public has to encounter, would make a visible change. If they wants to be the one to whom the public, especially the youth, due to positive changes he brings, can look up to and say, " that young MLA is a breed apart from the rest", then they have to be bold, innovative and ready to go that extra mile.
• The literacy rate has improved a lot bt in da min tym thousands of educated unemployed r cmin up evry yr so i wish n hpe da yng, dynamic, promisin MLA shld stop backdoor appointment n take initiative to bring bout creation n birth of 'NEW NAGALAND'.
• May be..... depends on the mindset of the people
• They should, but it may be a bit tougher for this first lot... but these will sow the seeds for the next group who may find their acceptance easier if these do a good job...
• All they need to do is --- Be honest, stop syndicating and allow room for healthy competition to grow! Don't be afraid to admit that you are still learning and can do with help from those around you. One of the greatest asset of being young is that you have more energy, so take risks, meet with different people from different fields to ask their opinion, to learn from them and roll your sleeves and participate instead of being pen pushers. Leave that to the bureaucrats!! Remember we don't know everything but we can certainly have good advisors and speak from the heart, know your subject thoroughly before you let someone else prepare a speech and make a mistake.. Interact with young people and elders too, to be the bridge for the gap that exists now! And of course, remember you can't please everyone but learn to be gracious and not vindictive! Oh yes another thing... plan big but start small... infrastructure, infrastructure, infrastructure all the way!!!
• My humble insight on the prevailing flawed state of affairs in Nagaland, it may sound a bit cynical or skeptical for the professed optimists like me to unrealistically expect the earth from these young elected Naga leaders inspite of their prestigious educational qualification, fresh enthusiasm, prodigious energy and exceptional dynamism. Glad to see an unprecedented number of young blood in the 12th State Legislative Assembly, and so make no mistake that as of now not only the contemporary Naga youth but all and sundry of Nagas from all walks of life would like to see the aforesaid legislators the agents of change for the good of the future generation. Kuknalim.
• I had the privilege to interact with two fine leaders and I really liked the fact that both of them was so approachable and had common views about the upliftment of the Naga youths...don't know what they will do but atleast I really liked what they had atleast thought and said and that too after being elected.
• Unless they discipline themselves from crazy power and money.
• There is a big difference in saying and doing.
• If only they dont follow those older MLA and get hooked with the dirty politics.
• Can't say. Only time will tell. Because this young leaders did not come out from under a new political party. And most of the time, we've seen that the party plays an important role in deciding the policies of the MLA's so we can't be too optimistic about them, yet we still hope that they'll be the change we have been hoping for.
• May be... we have young politicians in Legislative merentoshi. mhonlumo kinkon, tovihoto...lets see what they can do?
