Dimapur | May 15
In addition to its dedicated 10-bedded COVID ward, the Eden Medical Centre (EMC), Dimapur is setting up another 30-bedded make-shift facility at its premises with the assistance of the Army from Rangapahar Military Station, Dimapur to admit COVID-19 patients.
The setting up of the tents was completed on May 15 by the Army and the hospital has received 10 jumbo oxygen cylinders from the state government. Altogether, five tents, four double tents and one single tent have been set up by the Army. The facility is yet to be functional and is expected to start taking in patients in the next 2-3 days.
“Operational works are yet to be completed and we are trying to make it functional by Monday,” EMC source said.
EMC Director, Dr Lima Imchen, also confirmed that logistical arrangements like sanitation and electricity fixtures, etc., are still being installed and will be ready by Monday. The hospital will issue a press release once the unit is functional and ready to take in patients, he added.
Meanwhile, similar makeshift tents have been set up by the Army at Faith Hospital, Dimapur although lesser in capacity, owing to space constraints.
