Nagaland Advisor for Agriculture and Chairman of the Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), MLA Mhathung Yanthan, along with MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, Deputy Commissioner Mhathung Tsanglao, Superintendent of Police Relo T Aye and officials of various line departments, visited Fernbrook School, Wokha, on September 10.
The visiting team interacted with students, teachers and the school administration and encouraged the students to pursue education with perseverance, discipline, leadership, character and faith.
Addressing the students, Yanthan urged them to look beyond academics and learn from the people and experiences around them. He encouraged them to identify their aspirations and work hard towards achieving them, whether they choose humanities, science, governance or other fields.
Emphasising the importance of education, perseverance and leadership, Yanthan urged the students to believe in themselves and actively participate in school events and activities. Such experiences, he said, would contribute to their overall growth and help develop leadership qualities.
He also appreciated the teachers for their commitment, hard work and dedication towards the students. Teaching, he said, should not be viewed merely as a profession for employment, but as a responsibility requiring patience and passion in shaping young minds.
Humtsoe also encouraged the students to remain focused, dedicated and disciplined in their studies and future pursuits. He stressed the importance of making proper use of the opportunities and facilities available to them and urged them to remain committed to their goals.
Highlighting the significant role of teachers in students' lives, Humtsoe encouraged the students to respect and learn from their teachers. He also appreciated the dedication of the teaching community and the school's efforts towards the overall development of its students.
Tsanglao, in his interaction with the students, emphasised that small and consistent efforts eventually lead to great achievements. He encouraged them to focus not only on academic and career success but also on building strong character and becoming individuals who can be trusted.
The Deputy Commissioner urged the students to be honest, keep their word, respect their parents and teachers, and extend help to those in need. Money and professional success alone, he said, cannot define a person's worth, stressing that respect, compassion and integrity are equally important.
He further encouraged the students to keep God at the centre of their lives while pursuing their education and careers. Referring to Christian teachings, he reminded them of the importance of faith, education and compassion and encouraged them to strive for success while remaining good and responsible individuals.
Tsanglao also appreciated the teachers and school administration for their dedication and the progress made by the institution. He encouraged them to continue their commitment towards the students and the district.
Earlier, Managing Director of Fernbrook School, Wokha, Rushamo Tsopoe highlighted the school's initiatives and commitment to the holistic development of students. He spoke about the school's prayer fellowship involving parents and teachers and its efforts to extend support to vulnerable sections of society.
Tsopoe also highlighted the school's counselling and guidance programmes aimed at preparing students for life beyond school and helping them make informed decisions about their future. He said the school was also making efforts to provide students with wider exposure and opportunities through educational visits and other programmes.
The interaction provided an opportunity for the visiting officials to engage with the students and faculty and understand the school's ongoing initiatives and aspirations.
