Phek| Dec ember 21: Minister for health & family welfare Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today asserted that education without a purpose can be a very destructive tool but education with purpose can work miracle.
Speaking at the golden jubilee celebration of Dzülhami Students’ Union (DSU) here this morning, the minister said a time has come to be more serious in the field education as casual approach is not going to take us anywhere.
On the other hand, the minister stated the bogus, unqualified and proxy teachers as a threat to basic foundation of education system.
He said because of bogus, proxy and unqualified teachers the government schools are weak whereas the private schools are doing better than the government schools for not having bogus, proxy and unqualified teachers.
Asking the public to discourage the bogus, proxy and unqualified teachers, the minister requested them to extend their fullest cooperation to the government especially to the education department in finding out the bogus, proxy and unqualified teachers and to do away with such malpractice in order to strengthen the education system and to bring quality education to the state.
Earlier, the minister inaugurated the newly constructed building of Primary Health Centre, Dzülha as well as Old Age Home.
Parliamentary secretary for social welfare and women development Chotisuh Sazo also spoke on the occasion and called upon the students to practice and maintain the spirit of hard working, sincerity, honesty and trustworthiness.
Appreciating the setting up of Old Age Home at Dzülha, he assured to extend every possible help towards the welfare of elderly persons in the village.
DSU president Disahi Vadeo has challenged each and every individual to take time to reflect upon the importance of education.
“It is education that changes us, that changes our society, education is an instrument through which we progress and also it helps in changing our lives and our world into a better place to live in,” Vadeo said
He said DSU formed in 1961 under the motto “Tasuto” which was later on changed to “Tasato” meaning “Marching towards greater heights.”
Earlier, ex-minister Zachilhü Vadeo spoke at the introductory service last evening. The two day long celebration was also marked by indigenous tune, cultural dance, talent expo nite and jubilee feast.
