DIMAPUR, JULY 20 (MExN): A meeting of the Eastern Naga National Workers (ENNWA) of the four districts namely Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire and Longleng was held at the Oking on 20th July 2011 to “entrench revolutionary ideals and principles among the National workers”. The meeting was chaired by Hothrong Yimchunger, Kilo Kilonser, GPRN/NSCN and invocation pronounced by Lonshen Khiamnungan NPAC member, NSCN, informed a press note from the MIP signed by 26 participants.
The meeting took strong exception to the statement issued by what it described as “few misguided elements who took the name of ENNWA to exhibit their ignorance of reality”. The signatories informed that in 1994, under the advice of the then Naga Army Commander-in-Chief (now His Excellency President Gen. Khole Konyak), six Naga Tribes Regional Chairmen Union was formed to strengthen the Naga political struggle and to create a better co-ordination among the national workers of six tribes. In 2001, a new nomenclature Eastern Naga National Worker Association (ENNWA) was proposed and approved by the Regional workers of six tribes.
The members resolved to appeal to the general public of four districts namely Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire and Longleng in particular and the Naga people in general, not to be misled by such preposterous propaganda issued by few discarded individuals.
The founders of ENNWA pointed out that S.S Khaplang was responsible for his own fall from grace and that he was impeached primarily because he preferred dictatorial type of governance which is unacceptable to the Nagas. “The interest of the Naga people could not be raised above his personal interest. Fratricidal confrontation was always preferred over peaceful resolution of issues. The positive national policy forwarded to him for approval always got postponed with silly excuses which proved disastrous for the NSCN and the Nagas”, the statement noted.
It went on to allege that the “glaring unconstitutional actions of S.S Khaplang were threatening to create a wider rift between the NSCN and the Naga people” and in “such a situation, the decision of the National Assembly, NSCN was justified in impeaching S.S Khaplang”.
It was also informed that the ENNWA passed a resolution that it shall stand firmly behind the Leadership of Chairman Gen. Khole Konyak and General Secretary N Kitovi Zhimomi, who have committed themselves to Naga reconciliation, to forge a common ground to find the solution to the Naga political issue. ENNWA appealed to all Nagas to be on guard against destructive elements threatening Naga people.
