Is fencing of the Indo-Myanmar border in Tuensang an opportunity for Nagas to set aside their differences and with one united voice work for the common goal? Why?

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:

•    Yes, it is said, common enemy unites people more than common goal. This is an opportunity for Nagas to stand united and fight against the common enemies of the Nagas who are mooting to fence Indo-Burma border, so that our stand against our common enemies will strengthen our common vision and goal too.

•    Yes. If we couldn't safeguard our history and culture then it's time we change our nomenclature "Naga". It's sickening to see of our infighting that costing us advantage by others. Kuknalim

•    Yes, we should work as one not by keeping aside eastern Naga people only. But again we should be very cautious of it because for Indian govt it is matter of intrusion & extrusion and for us unity and integrity so in case if both side denied our seek (non-demarcation) the only option we remain is (not commenting but mere opinion) to demand commutable barrier (I mean not by putting iron fencing, concrete wall).

•    Yes, it definitely is if only our so called civil society leaders were not distracted by non issues like 33%. Even the NPG's are talking in one voice. While those who shout the loudest about unity are dividing our society. If only powerful bodies like the AYO and Ao Senden had total shutdowns like they did for non-issues and showed solidarity imagine the message it would send.

•    Yes, why not! It’s already time to wake up each and every Naga citizen from our slumber to voice out and stand firm together to bring a change. So let all Nagas unite and marching onward to fight for our rights. Surely, we shall overcome, and we can witness a new and brighter Nagaland starting from 2017. God Bless Nagaland. Kuknalim.

•    Unless Nagas unite, the government will keep on dividing us further and further apart. Before we never used to talk about tribes, we used to talk about being Nagas. But, alas, today we only talk about tribes and not about being Nagas. We are going more and more backward.

•    Yes. Nagas should rise up above tribal lines and will have all the rights to lives together as a family and India and Burma should respect it.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:

•    No. It’s very surprising that the state government and none of the ministers have uttered a word on the fencing issue.

•    No way. Nagas are a divided lot. They are too selfish and self-centered and don’t have the b*** to unite.

•    The government of India has created trouble in all the corners and the Naga people are going round and round in circle. The Naga leaders don’t know where the entry and exit point is anymore. It’s sad that our overground and underground leaders have all become pawns of the government. In this situation I don’t see how the Nagas will unite under such kind of leaders.

•    No, there is no credible leader or organization worth its salt to take the Nagas out of this terrible mess.

•    No way. Naga leaders are only thinking about their own personal selfish interest.

•    No. with the municipal elections, no one seems to be actually interested. This is one good example which shows how much our naga people are swayed and taken in by anything related to election. This is no fair to our eastern Nagas.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:

•    It is a good opportunity for Nagas to come together. But I feel the Nagas should not come together only when there are problems, we need to come together more often to discuss our future together. More and more we see our lands being desecrated and our rights trampled.

•    A wasted chance. How many buses will the Nagas keep missing? We can’t keep blaming others when we ourselves are not stepping up.
