DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 7 (MExN): The Finance Department has issued guidelines for claims under the Chief Minister’s Life Insurance Scheme (CMLIS), detailing procedures for beneficiaries seeking compensation under the accidental insurance coverage.
To facilitate claims for nominees of breadwinners and dependents affected by accidents—including incidents such as snake bites, road accidents, falls from trees, and drowning—the department outlined specific instructions.
In cases where a post-mortem examination has been conducted, the report will suffice and must be enclosed with the claim. However, in situations where a post-mortem could not be carried out due to a lack of infrastructure or customary restrictions, the district administration is required to conduct an inquiry and submit a report.
If the body has already been buried by the time the district administration is informed, the administrative officer in charge of the sub-division will investigate the claim and submit a report either supporting or rejecting the circumstances surrounding the accident. In cases where the death is reported before burial, the concerned administrative officer will verify the claim and provide a report with observations.
The Finance Department stated that these measures are aimed at ensuring a streamlined process for claimants under the scheme.
