Fire breaks out at Amahator town

Eight houses and one granary were completely gutted down to ashes and another house was partially burned when a major fire broke out at Amahator town around 11:00 am on April 11. The Town is situated around 14 Km from district headquarter Kiphire.

According to sources, the fire broke out from a kitchen. Cash amount around Rs 4,59,500 and household goods worth lakhs of rupees including four livestock and some ammunitions of the Village Guards were lost in the fire incident. 

Stephen, OC in charge of Fire Service said altogether 14 firefighters and 2 fire tenders were deployed to fight the fire, which was finally brought down after a tough fight for nearly two hours. District administration led by Dr Tinojungshi Chang SDO(C), Indian Red Cross society Kiphire unit, USSC, ENSSS and well-wishers visited the spot and contributed cash and kind for the immediate relief.
