Dimapur, April 27 (MExN): Multiple fire incidents were reported from various districts of Nagaland on April 26 and 27, the RO (E), Fire and Emergency Services, Kohima informed on Tuesday.
On April 27, Fire & Emergency Services team from Fire Station Tuli responded to a fire call at Teyong Ward, Tzudikong town. Two houses along with house hold property, documents and cash amounting to Rs 30,000 were gutted and property worth Rs 2.84 lakh approximately were lost in the fire which is suspected to be caused by an electrical short circuit. The team led by Duty Commander ASI Y Pangai Konyak salvaged two gas cylinders, three neighbouring houses and a thatched house, the press release informed.
In another incident on April 26, Fire Station Tuli personnel led by Duty Commander Nk/Clrk Akuto Asumi doused a fire that broke out at 10th Mile near Railway Station. Fire tenders along with sufficient equipment and personnel were pressed into action and the fire was controlled and prevented from spreading, the release stated.
Meanwhile, a team from Fire Station Wokha led by Duty Commander ASI Bumo Hayang Chang responded to a fire call at Bhandari village. According to the release, the fire destroyed plantations, trees and crops and property worth approximately Rs 3 lakh, however, the fire response team managed to salavage property worth about Rs 5 lakh. The cause of fire could not be ascertained, it added.
On the same day, two jungle fires were reportedly caused “due to public carelessness” at Sewak gate, Mokokchung. A fire response team from Fire Station Mokokchung led by Duty Commander ASI Meyilemba Jamir controlled and prevented the fire from spreading further, the release stated.
In Kohima too, a jungle fire broke out below NIELIT, Kohima on April 26 and a team led by Duty Commander SI Inaka was pressed into action. The cause of fire could not be ascertained. However, due to intervention of firefighters, the fire was controlled and prevented from spreading, the release stated.
