Participants of International Women’s Day 2021 at Chozuba on March 8.
Kohima, March 8 (MExN): The District Administration, District Level Centre for Women- Mahila Shakti Kendra( BBBP) & Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Phek has conducted a flower show competition as part of the celebration of International Women's Day 2021 at Chozuba town under Phek district under the theme ‘Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID - 19 world.’
50 girls and women participated in flower show competition. Altogether, 300 representatives from different organizations such as Chozuba town Area Mothers' Association, Chozuba Area Mothers' Association, Chokri area Mothers' association, Sekruzu Mothers' Association, schools under Chozuba town, children homes, HoD Chozuba subdivision etc joined the programme.
Theodore Yanthan, ADC Chozuba in his keynote address urged the denizens to support women's rights and support women empowerment. He stressed on the potential of women abilities. He also added that women folk nowadays are more sincere and dedicated than men in every field. He highlighted on the significance of unity and abilities of women folk and how it is creating an impact in our society today.
Sedukholu Thisa, Principal, Government Higher Secondary School, Chozuba town spoke on the theme. She said that International Women's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognised for their achievements. The world celebrates women's history with women leadership discussing how to achieve an equal future in COVID-19 World. She added the past years has not only seen the devastating effects of a global pandemic, but also a critical set back in women's progress in term of economic and workplace empowerment.
This is exactly women need to nurture themselves thus encouraged the women to buckle up and take on the next normal life and transform it into something extra ordinary as global hands, she said.
Jitsiasa Nyusou, Centre Administration, Sakhi-OSC, Phek highlighted on OSC scheme. Role of district level for women- Mahila Shakti Kendra was shared by Veposelu Naroh, District Coordinator MSK, Phek. The Carnation Team presented a role play on the theme.
The programme was chaired by Vileno Kapu, Women Welfare Officer, District Level Centre for Women - MSK, Phek. The programme was followed by distribution of BBBP badges, OSC pamphlets, bookmarks and flower seeds to all the participants.
