Four rescued jackal pups to find new home at NZP

Wokha, April 12 (MExN): Four jackal puppies that were rescued at Doyang damn area (Tzuza River) were handed over to forest department officials. 

The pups were rescued by Zanbemo Kithan, a former VDB Secretary, Jenithung Shitiri, a former Village Council Chairman, CEM Kyong and Tumbemo W Kikon who are both Graduate Teachers at GHS Sungro. All four of the rescuers hail from Pangti village.

According to a press release received on Monday, the rescuers informed that the puppies were found abandoned in a porcupine burrow in the last week of March. It also stated that the rescuers took care of puppies for over two weeks as they were too young. 

The pups were handed over to forest department officials following a brief interaction with Class 8 and 9 students of Government High School Sungro. Wildlife officials and CEM Kyong imparted awareness on the importance of saving wildlife and forest for ecological coexistence during the interaction. 

The Forest department informed that three of the rescued jackals were female and one male. The pups will be shifted to the Nagaland Zoological Park, Dimapur, the release stated.
