The Marwari Yuva Manch Dimapur Shikhar Branch (Marwari Youth Organisation) has organised a two-day free Cancer Screeening & Awareness camp between July 31 and August 1 at Jain Bhawan, Dimapur.
Over 100 patients have so-far availed the medical facilities provided by the organisation on the first day. Nikhil Jain, Chairperson of the youth organisation explained that a mobile lab facility, installed inside a bus provided by the All India Marwari Yuva Manch, is being utilised to conduct the tests and screening of the patients. The professional team includes a total of 5 lab technicians and 6-7 doctors from Dimapur, who have volunteered to provide their services to the patients’ benefit.
Tests were conducted on the patients’ blood sugar level, mammography, Pap smear, throat endoscopy, x ray, CA 125, PSA and oral check-up. While the screening process involved detections for oral cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer, and throat cancer.
Providing a run-down of the entire process, Jain explained that, “After registration is done for the patients, they are made to undergo a weight check-up followed by testing their blood-pressure and blood sugar levels. Screening and testing is then done for the patients inside the mobile lab wherein their results are provided after a while,” he said.
“People from various parts of the including the interior districts of Nagaland, Chumoukedima, Kohima, Dimapur and even some from Assam have come for the screening,” he added further.
The whole project is being sponsored under the initiative of Sanjay and Mantu Jain. Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal was also invited as the special guest for the screening camp.
