Mon, April 30 (MExN): The National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), in collaboration with the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), organised a free “Oral Health Awareness, Dental and Medical Camp” at Longwa village on April 30.
According to an official update, the team was led by Director (Dental) and State Nodal Officer (NOHP) Dr I Arenla Walling, Joint Director (Dental) and SNO (NOHP) Dr N Moangangba Jamir, Deputy Director (Dental) and SNO (NTCP) Dr I Simon Sumi, along with other medical personnel.
The initiative aimed to provide accessible and quality healthcare services to the community, particularly those with limited access to medical facilities, with a special focus on oral cancer screening.
General health check-ups, dental treatment and screening for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) were conducted by a team of doctors and healthcare workers, who actively participated in delivering services. Around 250 beneficiaries availed free treatment and medication during the camp.
The camp was assisted by Dr Nokyat K, MO i/c OST, District Hospital Mon; Dr Shechung, MO, UPHC Mon; Dr Wangmai, DS, UPHC Mon; Dr Esther Chophy, Senior Dental Surgeon and District Nodal Officer (NOHP and NTCP), District Hospital Mon; Dr Lihngam Konyak, Junior Dental Surgeon, District Hospital Mon; Dr Imtimenla Nokdy, Junior Dental Surgeon, District Hospital Mon; Mr Alang, Pharmacist, UPHC Mon; Dr Tongmeth, Laboratory Assistant, UPHC Mon; Mrs Nyemying, Consultant (NTCP), District Hospital Mon; medical staff from Sub-Centre Longwa; and ASHAs from Longwa.
The department expressed gratitude to all medical personnel and volunteers, especially the Longwa Village Council, for their support in making the camp a success.
