Kohima, August 1 (MExN): The parents of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Phek today extended solidarity with the ultimatum served to the Principal Director, Department of School Education (DoSE), Nagaland on July 27 by Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS).
On behalf of the parents of GHSS Phek, Seshakho Hoshi and Dani Movi stated that apart from various other issues, 11 high school section teachers have been either transferred/retired/deployed without reliever. Also eight higher secondary section teachers have either been expired/promoted/transferred without any reliever.
“We are surprised as to how the Tenyidie students of Higher Secondary section will appear their examinations since the school is left without Tenyidie teacher,” the duo stated.
They also expressed shock “to learn that the students are made to make contributions during their admission to incur two private teachers so as to meet the shortage of teachers in order to keep the school running. It is no less surprising that the newly appointed principal never joined the school after his posting at GHSS, Phek.” The pathetic condition of the GHSS, Phek without the presence of this huge number of teachers and negligence by the concern authorities at the same time is astoundingly surprising as to how the careers and future of our children are being pushed to an extreme corner, they stated.
‘We have hoped, waited for a better change for enough time, out of which things have only gone from bad to worse,’ they stated.
They appealed the concern authorities that the demands made by the PTYS in their ultimatum be redressed at the earliest for the interest of the Phek Town and nearby villages in particular and the people of Chakhesang community in general.
“The parents having full hope that our children will get proper education from the school but if the concerned authorities continue to turn deaf ear to the genuine demand made by the PTYS, the department will be held solely responsible for any eventualities in the aftermath,” they stated.
