
NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 9 (MExN): The Government of India and the NSCN-K (Niki) have mutually agreed to extend their ceasefire agreement for a period of one year with effect from September 8, 2025, till September 7, 2026. The agreement aims to facilitate lasting peace in Nagaland with the involvement of the Naga people, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said in a statement. The ceasefire will remain subject to adherence to the Ceasefire Ground Rules, which were mutually agreed to and signed by both sides. These rules will also be open to review and amendment with the participation of both parties. The agreement was signed in New Delhi on September 9, 2025, by Prashant Lokhande, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and on behalf of NSCN-K (Niki) by Abel Zingru Thuer, Supervisor, Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB), and Ameka Achumi, Secretary, CFSB.
