Govt can do much more to promote tourism: NTA

Dimapur, September 18 (MExN): The Nagaland Tourism Association (NTA) on Monday while appreciated the efforts of the government and the tourism department said, “The government can do much more to promote tourism.”

NTA in a press release said that Nagaland has lot of potentials to become an ultimate eco-tourism destination and tourism can really boost the local economy “if the government can make the right policies and facilitate the stakeholders in the right way.”

The association expressed sadness to see that many tourism projects done in the past are not utilized and not serving the purpose of tourism. Therefore, it appealed to the government to give priority in developing more tourism-oriented projects, capacity building, awareness programmes, and development of new destinations. 

The association also requested the concern department to support the stakeholders in marketing and publicity, attending fairs and conventions, trade fairs, etc., which are very essential in tourism like any other industry to attract and draw more tourist to the state.

Meanwhile, NTA congratulated one of its members, Kejaroko Pieru, Founder and CEO of Pier Tours and President, Nagaland Association of Tour Operators for receiving recognition at the 18th International Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference & B2B Networking Event and 3rd Eco-Tourism Awards at Luxor, Egypt.
