GPRN/NSCN on Suruhuto Designated Camp

DIMAPUR, JULY 31 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has stated that if “character assassinations, fallacy, hypocrisy and denials over proven facts were the required elements in the Indo-Naga political struggle, those elements at Suruhuto Camp inventing ridiculous stories would be called upon to lead the Naga people”. A press note issued by the MIP stated that “unfortunately, Naga people have analysed each one of them individually and has established the true motive behind their sudden infatuation for expelled chairman S.S Khaplang”.
The GPRN/NSCN pointed out that impeachment of any leader in the “revolutionary period cannot be done haphazardly” and that in the “Naga context, it requires the opinion of the National Hoho and rightly so it did”. Stating that the signatures of Kughalu Mulatonu, Niki Sumi and Hokato Vushe, published in the media were not a “meeting signature by any stretch of imagination”, the MIP note pointed out that as “leaders they were expected to express their views freely and openly when the opinion of the house was called”.
“Clearly the difference between National workers and those with individual pursuits can be gauged.  Let it be reminded that on 7th June 2011, the three signatories were not confused as to what kind of assembly it was. They raised their hands without any hesitation when the Hon’ble speaker of the Tatar Hoho sought the members’ approval”, the MIP note clarified.
“If the Suruhuto Camp is adamant that those runaway signatories were deaf and dumb during the National Hoho, graphic images of them hailing Khaplang impeachment and also their acceptance of Gen. Khole Konyak as the new NSCN Chairman and GPRN president on 15th June 2011, eight days after S.S Khaplang’s impeachment would be available”, stated the MIP note adding that when called to clarify, GPRN/NSCN’s documents will always be available. “The objectives of S.S Khaplang and those endorsing his name at Suruhuto appear to be plunging into different destinations”.
The GPRN/NSCN also clarified that the Suruhuto Designated camp was established as per the Ceasefire agreement between GOI & NSCN. The camp was established in Sumi Region to primarily cater to the security needs of Ato Kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi, it clarified while adding that the Suruhuto camp was an official designated Camp of GPRN/NSCN.  “The officers and men at Suruhuto Camp still owe their allegiance to former C-in-C and now Chairman Gen. Khole, and Gen Secy. N Kitovi Zhimomi.
The soldiers inside have simply been misguided and threatened into supporting expelled Chairman S.S Khaplang by superiors”.
Further it was stated that recently the Indo Burma Revolutionary Front (IBRF) was restructured and now it was known as North East Joint Forces Alliance (NEJFA). “Clearly Suruhuto Camp is being projected as the transit camp for the NEJFA. GPRN/NSCN will not allow its legitimate designated Camp to be used as a furnace of violence in Nagaland or in the NE Region”, it stated.
Pointing out that Naga Army presence around Suruhuto Camp was not to confront anyone but “if Naga soil is to be used to propagate violence in the Region, GPRN/NSCN will take necessary steps to prevent illegal occupation of Suruhuto camp by NEJFA”.
GPRN/NSCN also informed Indian Security forces especially Assam Rifles and IRB and the state Administration not to harass and provoke Naga army without ascertaining the facts. Naga Army has every right to operate in areas that are under threat from outside forces, it stated while pointing out that Suruhuto camp is being used to shelter non-Naga forces and those occupying the camp have “demeaned and diluted the Naga issue”. “They have failed to differentiate between social problem and political problem. The Camp belongs to GPRN/NSCN and therefore the occupants must be asked to go and find Khaplang wherever he is”.
