Hand over culprits to Naga Mothers

DIMAPUR, JULY 23 (MExN): With regard to the assassination bid on the life of Ms Imtila Jamir, Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Nagaland (Retd), a delegation of Naga women leaders from different Tribe women organisations, representing the Joint Action Committee (JAC) met the Collective Leadership of the NSCN/GPRN on Friday the 22nd July 2011 at New Delhi and demanded that the accomplice Corporal Ngalengshang Chahongnao be handed over to the Naga mothers within one week so that he can be handed over to the police for interrogation and appropriate action as per the law. Further it demanded that the main culprit SS Pvt Worshim Kashung be immediately arrested and handed over to the Naga mothers to be handed over to the police for interrogation and appropriate action as per the law. 
Naga women leaders meet Collective Leadership over May 27 assassination bid
The delegation held a two hour meeting with the two leaders, informed Rosemary Dzuvichu, Advisor, NMA. The JAC members submitted a memorandum on the assassination bid on the life of Ms Imtila Jamir, Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Nagaland (Retd). The memorandum was addressed to Isak Chishi Swu, Chairman and Th. Muivah Ato Kilonser NSCN/GPRN.
In a new disclosure the memorandum disclosed that the “matter has taken a very serious turn as the said culprit threatened the victim Ms Imtila Jamir again from the same mobile number on the night of June 28 2011 at 10: 45 pm stating among others that he might come again”.
The JAC has questioned and condemned that her life has been threatened on the very night the leaders of the Action Committee of the Ao Senden and the Watsu Mongdang met the Collective Leadership in New Delhi at 9:30 pm.   
The memorandum stated that it was deeply disappointed with the lack of action on the part of the NSCN/GPRN and as such it was resolved to send a delegation of women leaders from various tribes to seek the immediate attention and intervention of the Collective Leadership.
Meanwhile the memorandum has reiterated the stand of the JAC of Naga women that “we are above politics and tribal considerations” and that it was their firm belief that the Collective Leadership rise to the occasion and listen to Naga women’s voices for justice and its vehement protest against such armed violence particularly on women.
Pointing out that as mothers, wives, sisters and daughters, Naga women have contributed to nation building, the memorandum stated that its efforts as peacemakers, peace builders and peacekeepers must be recognized and respected. The JAC hoped that the Collective Leadership would stand for justice and ensure women’s right to peace and security and initiate immediate action on the above mentioned demands.   
As per the memorandum it was mentioned that on May 27, 2011 the retired Registrar was attacked and shot by two armed cadres SS Pvt Worshim Kashung and Corporal Ngalenshang Chahongnao of the NSCN/GPRN at her residence at PR Hill, Kohima. Following what it termed as the “heinous crime” a Joint Action Committee (JAC) consisting of Naga women representatives from all tribes have been formed to seek justice on the armed violence committed against the retired lady officer.
