Dimapur, June 23 (MExN): Help Nagaland Breathe (HNB), a COVID-19 relief fundraiser, received its fourth consignment of medical supplies from the Hemkunt Foundation on June 4 last.
HNB team in a media update informed that the donation from Hemkunt, a non-government organisation that aims to provide humanitarian aid to marginalized sections of society, comes in response to HNB’s ongoing fundraising campaign to obtain urgently needed medical supplies for Nagaland’s fight against COVID.
The shipment, which consisted of 700 Home Care Kits, 25 Oxygen cylinders, 25 oxygen concentrators, 41 oximeters, 400 PPE kits and 300 N95 masks, was delivered to Kohima with logistics support from the Government of Nagaland.
Further, medical supplies containing 325 NRB masks, 62 Pulse oximeters, and 20 PPE kits were received by the HNB team through various donors such as IIT Kanpur Alumni and Suramandala Foundation. The full list of donors can be found on the HNB website.
Under the first phase of distribution, in the past week, these medical supplies have been distributed to beneficiaries in the districts of Peren (Tening CHC), Kiphire (DH, Pungro CHC, Seyochung CHC, Amahator CHC) and Longleng (DH, Tamlu CHC, Sakshi PHC).
“The distribution of the aid was done after a needs analysis conducted by the members of the HNB team. Invaluable insights were gathered from medical experts and frontline workers, healthcare administrators, service providers and government representatives,” it stated.
HNB intends to assist the already ongoing work of the local government, along with international organisations and community organisations, it said and added that HNB ensures equitable and transparent distribution of all accrued supplies and details of all shipments can be found on their website.
The team also stated that the shipping, delivery, and transportation of these key medical supplies were aided by the support of the Nagaland House DRC Delhi, Nagaland House DRC Guwahati, Shanavas, IAS, and Dr Longri Kichu from the Nagaland COVID War Room and Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland.
On receiving the consignment, Moasunep Kashibo Jingro, EAC, Kiphire, was said, “A big thank you to HNB for the support. It will help Kiphire frontline workers immensely in containing COVID-19, but more importantly, to save lives.”
Nagaland Minister, Soil and Water Conservation, V Kashiho Sangtam also expressed gratitude to HNB for the supplies on his official Twitter handle.
