Bishu-mini Hornbill festival culminates

The three-day Bishu-mini Hornbill Festival culminated on January 27 at GHS Dhansiripar playground, with Nagaland Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation, G Kaito Aye, as special guest and Azheto Zhimomi, MLA, as guest of honour.


Addressing the festive gathering, the Minister said the State government mooted the idea of organising and supporting the mini Hornbill festivals to help showcase the rich cultural heritage of various tribes and communities in the state.


Kaito also said festivals like mini Hornbill provide opportunities for various communities to come together and celebrate spirit of oneness and brotherhood.


Underscoring the urgency to bring honourable solution to the Naga Political Issue, he said it is high time that various communities in Nagaland unite and work together for solution.


The minister said the state can progress and march ahead with the rest of the country only if there is peace and unity.
He also appealed to the Naga Political Groups to understand the sentiments of the people, and come together to hammer out final solution to the Naga issue.


On the occasion, the minister further assured that the Agriculture department would take all steps to provide agricultural equipment and tools and other schemes to farmers of Dhansiripar sub division.


Guest of honour, Azheto Zhimomi, MLA, who represents 3 Dimapur-III A/C, in his address, highlighted the plight of farmers if Dhansiripar area. Azheto urged the Agriculture minister to ensure that deserving farmers are not denied of government's farmer welfare schemes.


Supplementing the representation of the DPON, the MLA also apprised the need to set up an office of sub divisional agriculture officer, for farmers' welfare.


Advisor, Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland, SK Khemprai, also spoke on the occasion. Amaluma cultural troupe presented traditional welcome dance. Cultural troupes from Sumi (Zutovi village), Dimasa (Doyapur village), Kuki and Mech Kachari, entertained the gathering with traditional dances and songs. Dimasa villagers also displayed traditional games.


Earlier, convenor, Reception Committee of the festival, K Naben, delivered welcome address and general secretary, Dimasa Public Organization Nagaland (DPON), PM Thaosen, conveyed Bishu greetings.
