Historic exhibition on educational development in NE opens in Kohima

Kohima, August 8 (MExN): The National Archives of India, in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, on August 8 inaugurated a landmark archival exhibition titled “Development of Education in North Eastern India” at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima.

The exhibition, which chronicles the historical evolution and strides made in the field of education in the North East, particularly Nagaland, features rare archival documents, photographs, correspondences and policy papers showcasing the growth of educational institutions and reforms in the region.

Nagaland Minister for Higher Education and Tourism Temjen Imna Along formally inaugurated the exhibition. He also launched the Digital Exhibition and unveiled the Exhibition Brochure.

Other dignitaries present included MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso, Director General of the National Archives of India Samar Nanda, Nagaland Higher & Technical Education Secretary Sarita Yadav, Ex-Officio Director of Higher Education V. Lovitoly Sema, Deputy Director of the National Archives of India Syed Farid Ahmad, Dr. Devendra Kumar Sharma, Commissioner & Secretary of the Department of Art & Culture Athel O. Lotha, along with senior officials, scholars, educators and students.

According to the organisers, the exhibition offers “a comprehensive and thought-provoking look into the region’s educational development,” aiming to inspire future generations by highlighting the efforts and vision that shaped modern education in the North East.

The exhibition will remain open to the public from August 8 to 14.
