HLC formed to work out practical steps, says FGN

Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): The FGN said all the Naga “national political” groups should participate “in the process to develop one Naga national government to pursue our common cause” as there is a need for all to live under one “national government” and not under “multiple governments.” However, the note from the FGN today also cautioned that ‘interpreting this principle according to their own convenience’ would be ‘premature’.
On the recent high-level meeting for reconciliation, the FGN said the three groups NNC/FGN, GPRN/NSCN and NSCN/GPRN signed the “Naga Concordant” that “Having reconciled on the basis of the historical and political rights, the top Naga leaders have agreed that Nagas are one”.
In pursuance of this agreement, the three groups “have resolved in principle to work towards the formation of one Naga national government,” the FGN said. “To realize the formation of this one government, a high level commission was formed to work out the practical and necessary steps, and not otherwise. It would be premature at this time for any group or sections of the public to interpret this principle according to their own convenience,” the note added.
“It is a matter of fact that Nagas need to live under one Naga National Government and not under multiple governments. The formation of one Naga Government on the basis of the historical and political rights of the Nagas is a must. All the Naga National Political Groups should participate in the process to develop one Naga National Government to pursue our common cause,” stated ‘kilonser’ of “ministry of rali wali” of the group, KL Kronu.
According to him, the past Naga leaders have already laid the guiding principles to the future. “The Naga declaration of Independence on August 14th, 1947 and the Naga plebiscite on May 16th, 1951 are the cornerstones upon which the Naga people have expressed their unambiguous position to live as sovereign people,” the note said.
