Hornbill visitor count rises to 70,820 at Kisama

The number of visitors to the Hornbill Festival at the main venue at the Naga Heritage Kisama, has risen to 70,820 till December 3. According to tourism officials, out of 70,820 visitors, there were 1,480 tourists, 11,900 domestic tourists, and 57,480 local visitors. Meanwhile, Prahlad Singh Patel, Union Minister of State for Tourism and Art & Culture (IC) will grace the ‘Cultural Connect’ event on December 4 at Kisama at 2:30pm. Lt. Gen. Rajeev Sirohi, AVSM, VSM, GOC 3 Corps will be the special guest for the ‘Cultural Connect’ event at 10:00am in the same venue.
The Mima stone pulling ceremony will also take place on December 4, in commemoration of 75 years of Christianity in Mima village. The event has however been re-scheduled to 1:00pm. The monolith is a symbol of forgiveness, friendship and peace. Other highlights of December 4 will include the International Hornbill Naga Wrestling at the amphitheatre, Kisama at 10:00am; traditional shot-put at Kisama at 12:00 noon; Hornbill Motor Rally- TSD at The Heritage, Kohima at 10:00am; the Hornbill Writers Meet at Kisama at 10:00am and many other events.
