How Long Will Assam Rifles Protect K Group?: GPRN/NSCN

The nexus between Assam Rifles and K group have become too apparent in the backdrop of Athibung incident, it has clearly emerged that Indian paramilitary forces and Khaplang Group are in constant touch and collaborating against true Naga freedom fighters. The 32nd Assam rifles, stationed at old Peren are the latest example of explicitly providing logistic support to Khaplang gang. Intervening in conflict situations on behalf for K group and providing safe passage to under siege and shell-shocked Khaplang gang have become a sort of ritual for the Assam Rifles.

On the 19th of January 2012 at Athibung, after a prolonged battle, the dazed and confused K members were about to surrender to the Naga army but the 32nd Assam Rifles who were deployed in the area to, apparently, protect K gang blatantly intervened and requested the Naga Army to halt the advance to allow them to, as usual, grant safe passage to K group. Trusting the approach and not wanting to violate the Ceasefire ground rules between GOI and GPRN/NSCN, three Naga Army officers in civil dress went to meet the Assam Rifle. They were immediately taken into custody by the Assam rifles, blindfolded and inhumanly beaten up and later handed over to police at Peren. Whether it is at Prime Minister’s level or between military officers, bitter past experiences demands the Nagas must be prepared for any eventuality. It would be better if the remaining K members officially merge with Assam Rifles.

GPRN/NSCN has clear evidence that on the afternoon of 19th the police escort vehicle Maruti Gypsy with six occupants and loaded with arms and ammunitions was use by Hokato Vusshe from Kohima to Peren A village for reinforcement at Athibung. GPRN/NSCN questions the administration as to why Nagaland Government escort vehicle had to be issued to Hokato Vusshe to transport K gang’s arms and Ammunition to Peren A Village.

GPRN/NSCN reminds the Nagas that On Dec. 19th 2011, the K gang attempted to forcefully open their office at Naharbari, Dimapur despite objection from the general public. Naga Army was forced to evict the trigger happy gang from Naharbari because the voice of the people is louder than the gun totting Khaplang gangsters. Fortunately for K members, Assam rifles heard their SoS call and reached Naharbari on time. Upon the request of the Civil Societies, Public Leaders and District Administration and for the safety of the general public, Naga Army withdrew and granted a safe passage to Khaplang group after obtaining assurance that K group would be escorted back to Suruhuto Camp. Later some of these elements were released at Dimapur, some were dropped at Kohima. These same frustrated members planned and attacked the proposed Designated Camp at Ghukiye on Dec 22, 2011, killing Pte. Ihoto of Saghemi. The Killing of another Chakhesang patriot Corporal Vesavo of Thehephu Village on Dec. 28th at Burma Camp is another brutal act against the Naga Army. The attack on Ato Kilonser’s Residence at Amiphoto Colony at Zunheboto at 1 A.M on 21st January 2012 and the same afternoon Hokugha, Political Organiser (PO), hailing from Melahumi Village, Sumi region was fatally wounded when four K members alighted from Maruti vehicle stopped at his residence near Shotomi Village and fired at him.

Their provocations continue unabated and while GPRN/NSCN commits itself to the signatories of Covenant of Naga Reconciliation, those using the name of impeached and expelled leader S.S Khaplang and indulging in surprise attacks/raids and killing Nagas without any compunction shall never understand the meaning of Naga Reconciliation Process.
