ICAR–TSP career counselling programme held at NU’s SAS

MEDZIPHEMA, NOVEMBER 18 (MExN): A one-day offline career counselling session was conducted under the ICAR–TSP (Indian Council of Agricultural Research – Tribal Sub-Plan) project titled “Development of Soft Skills, Professional Business and Entrepreneurial Skills to Enhance Employability among Students” at the School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University. The programme, facilitated by Damaso Digital Solutions Pvt Ltd., aimed at equipping students with essential knowledge on competitive examinations and career pathways.

The formal session was chaired by Dr Mary N. Odyuo, Associate Professor and Principal Investigator of the ICAR–TSP project, who welcomed the participants and outlined the objectives of the initiative. She said such programmes play a key role in helping students make informed academic and career decisions.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dipak Sinha addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of soft skills, professional development and overall career preparedness. He said students are fortunate to have structured support systems like the ICAR–TSP project, which help strengthen their competitive abilities, and urged them to make full use of the opportunities provided.

Motivational messages were delivered by Dr Debika Nongmaithem and Dr Sentirenla Jamir, both Assistant Professors and Co-Principal Investigators, who underscored the need for active student participation in academic and skill-building initiatives.

An in-depth session was conducted by international trainer and author Shashank Dixit of Damaso Digital Solutions Pvt Ltd. He briefed students on various competitive examinations, including UPSC; banking and financial services; defence services; railways; SSC; ICAR ARS; FCI; IFFCO; allied examinations; research organisations such as ISRO, DRDO and BARC; state civil services; and teaching eligibility tests. The session offered an overview of multiple career pathways and preparation strategies.

The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which students sought clarifications on competitive exam preparation and career planning.
