Dimapur, April 17 (MEXN): Prof. (Dr) Arun Kumar Verma has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the ICFAI University, Nagaland. He assumed his office on April 15.
Dr Verma was appointed in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 13 (2) of the ICFAI University (Nagaland) Act, 2006, by the Col. (Dr.) V R K Prasad, Chancellor of the University, a press release from ICFAI informed.
Earlier Dr Verma was associated with the Defence Research Development Service (DRDS) and worked more than 20 years as Scientist in Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, it said.
He is internationally accredited as Radio Scientist and Senior Member of International Union of Radio Science (URSI), Belgium, it added.
In addition, Dr Verma was involved in development of Science and Technology and ICT for the North East Region as a Director (Science & Technology), North Eastern Council, Shillong from 1997 to 2003, the release said.
He was instrumental in establishing North Eastern Space Application Centre (NE-SAC), Shillong in collaboration with Department of Space (DOS) during 2000, it added.
He also served as Director of Vidyadaan Institute of Technology and Management, Patna since 2010.
