DIMAPUR, AUGUST 14 (MExN): The Insight Institute of Christian Counseling (IICC), 6th Mile Sovima, conducted a three-days training (4th Batch) on “Introduction to Christian Counseling” from August 8 to 10.
The goal of the training was to train and equip church leaders in Christian counseling to become effective gatekeepers of congregants’ mental health and emotional well-being. The training program was specifically designed for church ministry leaders, wherein 13 trainees from different churches, including pastors, women pastors, youth pastors, and children’s ministry workers, attended the training.
Resource persons, Dr Yehoto Swu Kiho and Dr Nighatoli P Achumi, founders of IICC, imparted self-awareness and personal development, basic counseling skills, integrating Christian and secular counseling, skills for identifying clients’ issues, andreferral skills.
The distinct feature of this course is that it was practical-oriented, engaging the trainees through self-awareness and personality development assessments, role-plays, case discussions, peer counseling, active interactive classroom participation, and homework, a press release issued by IICC stated.
IICC anticipates that the trainees will make a positive impact in their respective ministry fields through this basic experiential taster course.
