Dimapur, September 30 (MExN): The Advisor for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Imnatiba today urged the Union Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) for speedy upgradation and modernisation of all the existing Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in Nagaland.

Addressing the State Skill Development Minister Conclave on September 30 at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in New Delhi, he noted that when there was a shift of world’s focus from the western to Asian civilisation, the Government of India had come up with the “finest foreign policy i.e. Act East Policy preceded by the Look East Policy as part of its policy.”

“We have lots of visible road infrastructural development going on in the North East connecting with the ASEAN countries which means North East serves as a huge corridor for such mega dreams,” he stated.

In this regard, Imnatiba pointed out that the biggest challenge ahead would be the availability of enough skilled workforces when vision is fully realised.

“We will be attracting lots of investors to set up factories and Industries, but the question remains whether we will have enough skilled workforce,” he said.

Further noting that both the Prime Minister and Home Minister are seriously talking about solution to the Indo-Naga political issue at earliest possible time, the advisor wondered whether the GoI is doing enough to prepare the infrastructures in the state to meet the upcoming challenges.

He, however, added that through tremendous initiatives and programmes of the skill ministry to make India as a skill hub of the world, a consciousness of skilling in the entire Nation, especially in North East, has been created.

The Advisor further noted that the State has to serve not only as a gateway or corridor to East Asian countries, but have to promote entrepreneurs and contribute to its produces and product in the ASEAN highway.

“We have to get skilled millions of our youths to prepare to accommodate in the new industrial sectors in North East,” he said.

Toward this, he informed that through present existing as well as renewed flagship programmes of MSDE, the state have been skilling and creating employment opportunities for the unemployed youths, but more efforts are needed.

This was stated in a press release issued by Kuolie Mere, PRO (IPR), Nagaland House, New Delhi.
