First ever Tsüngkamneo Mini Hornbill Festival organised by Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC) from January 15 to 17 concluded here today at Mündün Yimchunger heritage village. It was graced by T Seopi Sangtam President United Sangtam Likhüm Pümji (USLP) as tribal guest amidst colourful display of diversity of culture and traditional dance.
Addressing the gathering, Seopi congratulated YTC for successful organizing Tsüngkamneo cum Mini hornbill festival and for also inviting USLP to be a part of the event.
Expressing admiration for Yimchunger culture and tradition, Seopi expressed hope that the present generation will safeguard the rich and diverse culture as Yimchunger culture and tradition is second to none among the Nagas.
Expounding on the need to have constant cultural exchange, Seopi said that such gathering of different tribes will go a long way in maintaining peace and brotherhood in the true spirit of the festival.
He urged upon the gathering to let past be past and come together with respect and understanding so that any problem or issues that might come along the way can be resolve through peaceful negotiation, which is the hallmark of our rich tradition.
He asserted that when leaders lead with integrity and principle, no society can go wrong therefore he urged upon the leaders to lead society in a right way for the betterment of society
Seopi called for doing away with making individual mistake turn into tribal line stating that time has come for us as a tribal to think beyond one’s own community.
He further added that the festival will go a long way in building relationship across different layers of society.
Also speaking at the event Ngon Khiamniungan, President Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) appreciated YTC for taking responsibility in safeguarding culture and tradition. Pointing out that Nagas today do not live by the Christian principle he advised the gathering to build friendship not only through good times but during difficult time as well.
Closing day of Tsüngkamneo festival witnessed cultural presentation from Sangtam cultural troupe, Kemify Yimchunger Cultural club and folk song by Kuthur Village. There was also demonstration of indigenous pottery making from Mimi village, Cotton spinning from Kemifu Yimchungrü Cultural Club Tuensang and Crossbow display by Mimi village.
The programme was led by M Khalenmew while welcome address was delivered by Laji Luyanba G/S YTC and special appearance by S Leshimong.
