As part of the 100-day Intensified Campaign on TB Elimination (Ni-kshay Shivir) under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the District TB Centre, Kohima today organised Express Health Camp at P Khel Council Hall, Kohima village.
Many people turned up at the TB screening camp and availed the service of Chest-X-ray as well as tests for blood pressure, blood sugar, weight and height.
“100-Day Ni-Kshay Shivir campaign” is a nationwide initiative in India aimed at significantly reducing Tuberculosis cases by conducting intensive screening and treatment camps across the country. The campaign aims to speed up the identification, preventing new infections and treatment of TB. The Government of India has launched a 100-Day Ni-Kshay Shivir campaign to accelerate the efforts to eliminate TB across the country under the National Tuberculosis Eradication Program (NTEP). This campaign, which was launched on 7 December 2024, will culminate on 24 March 2025.
Kohima District TB Officer, Dr Chibenthung Kithan, described TB as a major public health challenge. He informed that since the launching of the 100-day TB campaign in Nagaland on December 7, 2024, the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, NTEP Nagaland have been conducting extensive TB screening camps and awareness programmes in villages, urban wards and government offices. So far, around 36 villages have been covered under Kohima district, he said adding that the District TB Centre Kohima will continue to undertake screening camps in the district. Dr Kithan said that TB is curable with antibiotics, but it can be fatal if left untreated. He also stressed on the need to go for early diagnosis and early treatment.
Earlier, chairing a brief programme, P Khel Council Chairman, Kelhousetuo Rutsa thanked District TB Centre Kohima for conducting the screening camp in Kohima.
