Kohima, July 31 (MExN): Chaupal - an interaction programme with handicraft artisans was jointly organised by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, Handicraft Service Centre (HSC), Kohima in association with District Industries Centre, Chozuba on July 29 at Khulazu Basa village in Phek district.
Officials from the HSC, Kohima, highlighted various schemes and programmes initiated for handicraft artisans by the Government of India. Awareness on schemes of DC (Handicrafts) to artisans, mudra loan scheme, welfare schemes for artisans, the benefit of Artisan I- Card (Pahchan), GI registration and procedures, loans, pension schemes, artisans child education schemes, etc were conducted.
Further, an on-spot registration for artisans’ identity cards was also carried out.
A session on the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) scheme was also conducted.
The latest guidelines with regard to the scheme were highlighted and leaflets about the PMEGP scheme were distributed to all the participants. State Awardee and Pensioner of DC (Handicrafts), Hupuyi Rhakho, shared his experience and encouraged the artisans to believe in themselves and their goals.
63 artisans from the village participated in the Chaupal programme.
