Dimpaur, March 11 (MExN): A week-long tour was organised by officials of the Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland (IRCSN) State Headquarters, from February 21 to March 7, covering six districts in total.

According to Merenyanger Jamir, Program Coordinator, IRCSN in a press release stated that the IRCSN team was led by Dr Neiphi Kire, General Secretary and visited Tseminyu, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, and Kohima districts in their first phase.

During the tour, the team distributed blankets and hygiene-kits containing soap, tooth brush, tooth paste, shaving set, oil, and face masks to more than 400 poor and needy villagers in the districts they covered.

It further stated that the IRCSN deliberated and discussed on the issue of reactivating the Junior Red Cross at schools and Youth Red Cross at colleges. The first phase of the district tour culminated with a visit to Old Age Home, Meriema, Kohima and AIDS Hospice, Seithogei, Kohima where mink blankets and hygiene kits were distributed to them. The Red Cross team further plans to visit the rest of the district in the near future.
