
Kohima, July 11 (MExN): The Department of Information Technology & Communication has appealed to Government Departments in Nagaland to give preference to ‘Make in India Products’ while purchasing Information & Communication technology (ICT) goods.
Making its appeal through the state DIPR on Monday, the department cited a notification from the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology on October 28, 2021 wherein states were encouraged to support and facilitate the Public Procurement of electronics hardware in the state, by giving preference to Make in India ICT Products; like laptops/ tablets, desktops, All-in-one PCs, mobile phones etc., so as to deepen the electronics manufacturing ecosystem and to encourage the domestic companies in the country with a view to enhancing income and employment. It said that electronics industry is the world's largest and fastest growing industry and is increasingly finding applications in all sectors of; the economy. In this connection, Government of India attaches high priority to electronics hardware manufacturing, and is one of the important pillars of both ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ programmes of Government of India, the DIPR report stated.
In this connection, the department encouraged all Government departments to give preference to ‘Make in India Products’ while purchasing ICT goods to support and promotes manufacturing and production of ICT goods and services; as per the GOI guidelines order 2017, for Public Procurement Make in India; to boost the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
