JK Trust, NABARD extends employment linked skill training prog for Nagaland

Kohima, August 23 (MExN): The JK Trust, Mumbai (Social initiative of Raymond) and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) have extended a project “Employment linked skill training programme on tailoring/Sewing machine operator” to Government Polytechnic Kohima on August 21.

It is for 324 unemployed youth in Nagaland. The total project cost stands Rs 56.38 lakh.

This programme is a joint venture of the NABARD, J K Trust and Department of Technical Education, Nagaland.

Speaking at the programme, Nagaland Technical Education & Elections Medo Yhokha thanked JK trust and NABARD for coming forward to help and support the unemployed youth in Nagaland.

Yhokha was optimistic that the coming together of JK Trust, NABARD and Department of Technical Education, Nagaland would emerge a positive growth and prosperity.

Ram Bhatnagar, CEO J K Trust, Mumbai said  that the project is a unique model wherein the Government of Nagaland, JK Trust and the NABARD have come together to start  this employment link skill training programme for Nagaland state..

He stressed on the need to bridge the gap for skills and workforce demand so as to make way for investment.

Tiakala Ao, General Manager, NABARD, Nagaland said that NABARD will be sponsoring the training courses.

Shaji KV, Deputy Managing Director, NABARD, Mumbai said that the Central government is now focussing on ‘Act East’ policy from the previous ‘Look East.’

He stressed on the need to tap the potentials of the society and community.

The programme was chaired by Er. M. Nakro, Director, Technical Education while welcome address was delivered by Er K Rhutso, Principal, Government Polytechnic Kohima.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Er Vipulhou Lhoungu, additional director, technical education, Nagaland.
