KDBA resents withdrawal of Narcotic Cell staff

Kohima: The Kohima District Bar Association expressed deep concern over the withdrawal of Narcotic Cell staff from various check points in and around Nagaland.

“Deploying the narcotic cells staff in the police check points will definitely curtail the smugglers in smuggling narcotics substances through Nagaland, “ said the Association general secretary Ashipri Zho in a release.

It is an undeniable fact that the Narcotic Cell has done illegally transported through Nagaland. With the increase in crime rates, the police alone can no longer shoulder the responsibilities of curbing the menace in our society, it said.

“In fact, it has become a necessity to strengthen the narcotic department in order to effectively check the criminals who are involved in smuggling narcotic substances. 

Moreover, an expertise and well trained narcotic officials are required in dealing with crime related to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances with latest sophisticated equipments,” the release said.

The Association also urged upon the authority concerned to reconsider its decision in withdrawing the narcotic cells from various police check points and re-deploy the narcotic staffs to all the sensitive check points for the interest of one and all.
