DIMAPUR, JULY 23 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has stated that the Naga political struggle was about the Naga people, their land and future and that the issue is not about a particular region, tribe or a clan. Stating that Nagas were divided by external forces and in the decades that followed, found themselves woefully divided further, fighting among themselves, a press note from the MIP pointed out that if a tangible solution had to be found, Naga leaders had to first set their personal issues aside.
Stating that while the Naga leaders in the western side, under the aegis of Forum for Naga reconciliation (FNR) attempted to reason together, former Chairman S.S Khaplang began to prepare entirely different roadmap for himself after the Burmese junta announced election for the first time since 1990. His participation in the Burmese election was against the Naga people and NSCN Yehzabo, stated the MIP note adding that his focus shifted from Naga National cause to propagating and strengthening Indo-Burma Revolutionary Front (IBRF).
“At this point of Naga political struggle, the question of uniting all revolutionary groups in the NE and demanding sovereignty for NE states is an insult and unforgivable treachery to the 60 year old freedom struggle of the Nagas”, the MIP note stated. The GPRN/NSCN also mentioned about Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who had stated clearly in NETV bureau, Guwahati, on 22nd July 2011, that Khaplang was partnering ULFA, PLA,UNLF towards demanding sovereignty for NE region.
In such a situation, the MIP note argued that the impeachment and expulsion of S.S Khaplang from NSCN on 7th June 2011 was a constitutional and national necessity for any action that contradicts the national Yehzabo is detrimental to the Naga people. “The future of the Naga people cannot be erased by a leader on his own calculations. Naga people’s aspiration is different from others. NSCN believes that all struggling nations and peoples in the NE have the right to seek solutions to their respective issues yet the Naga people have their own history, ingenuity, vision and resources to stand on their own feet”.
The GPRN/NSCN stated that the Naga people will seek an acceptable political solution that fulfills nothing less than the goal that thousands of Naga patriots in the last sixty years fought for. “To achieve this, NSCN cannot have an elusive and negligent leader. Former chairman S.S Khaplang failed to respond to the Naga people’s cry at a critical hour”, it stated while adding that the GPRN/NSCN has little to do with those confused former GPRN/NSCN members stationed at Suruhuto camp. “Inventing gossip stories on personal whims and fancies are not a Naga political issue”, it added.
The GPRN/NSCN led by Chairman Gen. Khole Konyak and Gen. Secy. N Kitovi Zhimomi shall commit themselves to the Naga people because only the Naga people can determine and decide what is best for their future, the MIP note stated.
