Members of the Kohima Press Club during its 23rd foundation day celebration on January 20.

Kohima, January 20 (MExN): The Kohima Press Club (KPC), which was established in the year 2001 with the motto, “To Serve” observed its 23rd foundation day today at the KPC Office. Terming 23 years as quite a milestone, Alice Yhoshü paid tribute to the visionary and pioneering members of the Kohima Press Club while stating that they were “very concerned” about the fraternity and formed the club by putting their heads together.
She also reminded that the Club will be celebrating Silver Jubilee in 2 years' time while expressing that it is a time to reflect on our journey and that the Club has come a long way.
“On this foundation day, let us rededicate ourselves to our profession,” she stated while urging the members to continue to give their support to the Press club so that they can march forward and grow more in strength.
Advisor to KPC, Kopelo Krome recalled its formative years wherein he was also part of the drafting committee of the constitution and further urged the journalists to be true to themselves. He underlined the power of words while pointing out that a single word can bring division. “Let us be very careful”, he advised even as they bring about justice and fight for the truth and progress further for the betterment of our society.
Basil Peseyie commended the members of the Kohima Press Club on a professional level, and reminded that there is a great challenge ahead while referring to the forthcoming Silver Jubilee. In this regard, he also urged the need for all the members to have more cohesiveness, understanding and unity to face the challenges ahead.
While recalling the challenges of forming the Press Club, H. Chishi noted that it has come very far. He stated appreciation for the President, Alice Yhoshü under whose leadership, the club has remarkably grown. “Let us continue to work in this manner,” he urged.
Okenjeet Sandham also remarked that the next two years are very crucial for the Club with the forthcoming silver Jubilee. He also expressed that he envisions a new press club building to commemorate 25 years of its existence.
Vishü Rita Krocha presented the General Secretary Report. She also called upon the members to recommit themselves to the cause of journalism “to serve” the society and endeavour to make our society more informed, secure, and more just as they forge ahead on a path of greater success.
Seyiekietuo Keretsu presented a special number while William Belho said the prayer and Rana Chetri pronounced the benediction and Toiying Sarah Naam chaired the programme. The event was also marked by exchange of gifts.
